Siddhis Sadalmelik and the Modern Voyage Collective

This record is a decade long reflection of creative culture from the American service workers, students, musicians and artists, who were compelled to travel to the Orient from 2012 to 2022. The influences of encountering varying degrees of spirituality, food, culture and motorcycles. A spiritual journey, financed by labor, Siddhis Sadalmelik journeys from a political bar room band into the deserts of Southwestern United States by vehicle and to Hawaii, Thailand, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Nepal, flying all the way west until returning to the high plains of Colorado. This record is a decade long reflection of creative culture from western American service workers, students and the music that arose on the Front Range in Colorado. The influences of recorded and live music on the workers of the restaurant, bar, brewing and bicycle culture of Northern Colorado gave rise to an array of fusion communications both art and music; Folk, hip hop, bluegrass, jam band, and electronic music experiments with festival and venue outlets.

Siddhis navigates spirituality and belief systems, 3 strikes and beef burgers, from the butchers block to the monastery, from the bar room to the peaks of the Himalayas, from the dirt floor to high ceilings, from power to equanimity, through pandemics, disasters, loss and suffering to practice and daily American life. Lessons of mortality, compassion and suffering through tidal waves of oncoming feelings and perceptions, in and out of concentrations, spheres of bubbling conciseness connection, distractions and the mental battles of physical existence.

The album is reflective of the awe of experiential living, the meaning of pain and the truth of suffering. Experiments in community living, investigations into earthship building, projections of a post-oil world, and the reality of living in a future where humans have exhausted their current sources of energy and nutrition as a reason for action and creation now.

34 years into his journey, Siddhis is pulled forward out of comfortable home-life after traveling around the world and into Ogha the tidal force that sweeps beings away. As a witness to the overdevelopment and overpopulation of the earth and continuous studies of the natural world, building, astrology, astronomy, years of mediation, and practices of renunciation and being a recluse in modernity, Siddhis turns to the Buddha and asks “What am I now Buddha, what am I now?”
